Founder Portrait
The Beginning
It Started With
a Question
In 2019, our founder returned to India after a decade abroad. Walking through the spice markets of Kerala and the incense workshops of Mysore, a troubling realization struck: the world's oldest living civilization was exporting its wisdom in diluted, commodified form.
Ayurvedic products stripped of their context. Sacred fragrances syntheticized beyond recognition. Artisan crafts mass-produced for tourist shops. The essence was being lost.
Indic Essence was born from a simple conviction: that Indian heritage deserves better. That the world deserves better.

Our Journey
Milestones That Matter
01
The Discovery Trip
A six-month journey across India — from the spice gardens of Kerala to the sandalwood forests of Karnataka, from the indigo workshops of Rajasthan to the tea estates of Darjeeling. Every supplier was met in person, every process witnessed firsthand.

First Collection
Twenty-four products. Twelve artisan partners. One clear vision. Our debut collection launched with hand-pressed oils, natural incense, and organic teas — each product carrying the story of its maker and the tradition it represents.
03
The Journal
We realized that selling products wasn't enough. We needed to share the knowledge behind them. The Journal was born — a space for deep dives into Ayurveda, Indian culture, traditional recipes, and the rituals that give these products meaning.

Fifty thousand mindful customers across the world. A growing network of over two hundred artisan partners. And a mission that resonates more than ever: that the oldest living civilization still has the most relevant answers.
Every product is a conversation between tradition and modernity, between the artisan's hands and the customer's home.

What We Stand For
Our Values
Authenticity
We work directly with traditional practitioners and artisans. No middlemen, no dilution of heritage. Every product has a verifiable chain of custody from maker to you.
Sustainability
Natural ingredients, traditional processing methods, minimal packaging. What's good for you should be good for the earth. We measure our impact, not just our revenue.
Quality
Every product meets modern safety and quality standards without compromising traditional formulations. We test what we sell and sell what we trust.
Cultural Respect
We credit and compensate the communities whose knowledge and craft make these products possible. Heritage is not a marketing tool — it's a responsibility.

Behind Every Product
Our sandalwood oil comes from a third-generation distiller in Mysore, whose family has been working with Santalum album since before independence. His slow, cold-distillation method produces an oil of unmatched depth — creamy, warm, and unmistakably alive.
Our turmeric is sourced from organic farmers in Erode, Tamil Nadu — the "Turmeric City" — where the root is sun-dried and stone-ground using methods unchanged for centuries. No industrial processing, no chemical additives.
Our incense is rolled by hand in a small workshop in Goa, where a family of four produces each stick with the precision of a Swiss watchmaker and the soul of a prayer.
